Edmonton based milliner and watercolourist Michelle Leavitt Djonlic has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Associate in Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and design, Halifax, Canada. Introduction to the world of fashion began with a college exchange to the Fashion Institute of technology in New York to study fashion illustration, sparking a lifelong passion for fashion.
Michelle’s interest in millinery began after the discovery of a series of booklets published by the Women’s Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences, copyrighted 1916. Fascinated by the amount of history, skill and technique that went into hat creation; Michelle formed Andeo Hats and began designing and creating custom-made hats. Her constant research into the techniques and styles of millinery past and present has proven very rewarding for her as well as her many clients, who love her originality and attention to detail. She is a strong supporter of Edmonton Fashion Week, an event which offers the opportunity to present her spring and fall millinery collections.
Michelle is also a professional watercolourist, and a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, with her work shown across Canada, and sold internationally. She is also a member of the Visual Arts Alberta Association, an organization which promotes the work of many Albertan Artisans.
